The Inspiration Behind The Creation of the Scrappy Mini Hat Card

As we were preparing for our first card-making workshop last month, we were tasked to think of a special gift that we could give to the ladies during the icebreaker…something unique that would incorporate their event theme (Chucks, Crowns and Pearls) in a cohesive way.

I was inspired by a thought of our grandmother who loved to wear hats to church. She was always sharp in her church outfits. She had so many beautiful hats in her closet. I remember one year for her birthday I bought several hat boxes to give to her. But there were never enough boxes to hold all of the many hats that she owned.

Our beloved grandmother lived to be 100 years old. What a blessing! She was so full of life, wisdom and love. And she always encouraged me and my sisters – she was our biggest cheerleader! She had such a Godly spirit and a big heart. I am so grateful for her. I believe she is a part of the reasons why we love to honor the generation that came before us and always celebrate the special elderly people in our lives.

And so the “Mini Hat Card” was formed!!  Of course the first hat card was purple (my favorite color, lol). 💜 Inside of the card was a sentiment that read “Every Queen Deserves a Crown”. We presented this hat card to the two oldest ladies present at the card making workshop that day. The oldest was 93 years old. I do not believe it was a coincidence that she was wearing a beautiful purple hat.

We received many wonderful compliments from the ladies at the workshop on that day. The event was amazing and I will never forget how awesome all of the beautiful ladies made us feel. The Pastor was absolutely wonderful too. He stopped by to meet us and personally welcomed our team to this church event. I believe my grandmother was smiling down on us as we hosted our first card workshop. She would have been so proud. 😇

Watch out for Scrappy Card Sisters….we pray that there will be many more God-ordained workshops like this one in our future.🙏🏾
